During a conversation with Extra, held amidst the celebration of her latest venture, the Fenty Beauty Soft Lit Foundation launch event in Los Angeles, California, Rihanna, the renowned singer and entrepreneur, offered a glimpse into her preparations for the highly anticipated Met Gala.

Expressing her intention to adopt a more understated approach to her attire, Rihanna disclosed her plans for a simplified look at this year’s Met Gala. Emphasising the significance of her makeup and hairstyle in shaping her overall aesthetic, Rihanna hinted at the importance of balance and cohesion in her ensemble.

Despite her declaration of simplicity, Rihanna revealed that she has meticulously curated two gown options for the occasion, both embodying a subtle elegance that diverges from her previous bold fashion statements. Describing the chosen outfits as “simple-ish” in comparison to her past extravagant choices, Rihanna hinted at a departure from convention while retaining her signature style.

The Met Gala, an annual fundraising event held in New York City, serves as a platform for showcasing avant-garde fashion and celebrating artistic expression within the realm of costume design. With the theme for the 2024 Met Gala announced as ‘Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,’ the event promises to offer a captivating exploration of fashion’s evolution over the centuries.

In February 2024, Vogue unveiled the dress code for the Met Gala, inspired by J.G. Ballard’s evocative short story, ‘The Garden of Time.’ Paying homage to the narrative’s thematic elements, the dress code invites attendees to interpret the concept of time and nature in their sartorial choices, promising an array of imaginative interpretations on the red carpet.

This year’s Met Gala will be co-chaired by a star-studded lineup, including Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, and Chris Hemsworth. While Hemsworth prepares to make his inaugural appearance at the event, Bad Bunny returns for his third outing, joining seasoned veterans Lopez and Zendaya in shaping the evening’s fashion narrative with their distinctive style sensibilities.
