By changing her iconic Instagram profile photo, Rihanna stirred great controversy among fans and sparked nostalgia for her prior image. The 36-year-old singer's initial profile photo, which has been the same since 2014, was a straightforward black stick figure drawing on a white background.
On the other hand, Rihanna's new profile photo, which is evocative of her old doodle, has a Fenty product against a calm beach-like background with sun rays partially veiled by a hand-like figure. Fans are talking about this subtly hinting at her old profile photo on social media.

Many expressed their opinions about the shift on social media, with others lamenting the disappearance of the doodle that became so iconic. "Rest in peace to Rihanna's iconic Profile," a disappointed admirer wrote. "Rihanna switching her iconic Instagram pfp to a Fenty product... now this is where we draw the line," one person said. "Gone but will forever be missed."
Fans began to speculate that Rihanna was shifting her focus from her music career to promoting her Fenty collection on social media. Some admirers were worried that the pop artist could postpone releasing new music as a result of the move.

Rihanna recently revealed in an interview that while she doesn't presently have any songs for her upcoming album, she is full of ideas for the album's artwork. She went on, "It's peculiar. Right now my brain is operating in reverse.
Usually, the music comes on first, and it opens up a world of visual options for me. Now, I'm seeing everything." Though there's no music, Rihanna thinks her visions could inspire her to write new songs for her upcoming album.
