When the DCU rolled out, it was crystal clear that Robert Pattinson's 'Batman' wouldn't be hopping on the James Gunn-led universe bandwagon. The maestro behind the lens, Matt Reeves, had his own Batverse plans up his sleeves, sans the caped crusader's inclusion in the broader DC Universe.
Fans, naturally curious about Pattinson's fate in this superhero saga, found answers in a recent social media exchange where James Gunn revealed on why Reeves' 'The Batman' took the path of a separate franchise rather than joining the DCU party.

The DC boss, while sharing a nugget about 'The Batman Part II,' mentioned having heard Reeves' pitch for the sequel but was yet to lay eyes on a script.

Under the direction and co-writing finesse of Reeves, 'The Batman,' featuring Robert Pattinson as the still-green crime-fighter Bruce Wayne, garnered applause from audiences. The success prompted a green light for a sequel, with Reeves at the helm once again.
