Rod Stewart Cancels Vegas Gig Over Health Concerns, Glastonbury Appearance Still Set

Rod Stewart has postponed a major performance in Las Vegas just hours before he was due to take the stage. The 80-year-old artist had been scheduled to perform on June 2 at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, but a health issue forced him to cancel.

In a message shared on Instagram, Stewart explained that he wasn’t feeling well and that the show would be rescheduled to June 10. He assured fans that their tickets would remain valid for the new date and signed off simply as “Sir Rod.”

While the singer did not specify the nature of his illness, the short delay suggested that his upcoming appearance at Glastonbury is still on track. Stewart is expected to perform in the festival’s coveted Legends Slot on Sunday afternoon, joining a high-profile line-up that includes The 1975, Neil Young, and Olivia Rodrigo.

Ahead of the Glastonbury set, Stewart confirmed that Ronnie Wood—his former bandmate from The Faces—would be joining him on stage. The two last performed together publicly at the BRIT Awards in 2020, where they reunited for a rendition of ‘Stay With Me.’ Wood had also hinted in recent years that the group had been working on new music.

Although Stewart had previously said it was a great honour to be part of Glastonbury’s Legends Slot, he admitted that the performance would come at a significant personal cost, estimating it would set him back around $300,000.

This isn’t Stewart’s first time calling off a Las Vegas performance due to illness. In 2023, he had to call off what would have been his 200th show at the same venue after being diagnosed with strep throat—a condition known to cause sore throat, fever, and muscle aches.

Rod Stewart Celebrated at Star-Studded American Music Awards

Meanwhile, Stewart was recently recognised with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the American Music Awards, which returned this year after a two-year break. The ceremony, hosted by Jennifer Lopez, also honoured Janet Jackson with the Icon Award and Zac Brown with the first-ever Veterans Voice Award.
