Rose Byrne is reflecting on her early dramatic roles, including her time in 'Troy,' as she takes on another serious part in her new film 'If I Had Legs I'd Kick You.'

In a recent interview with W Magazine, the 46-year-old actress discussed how her career has shifted between drama and comedy. While she's widely recognised for comedic hits like 'Bridesmaids,' her latest project has her diving into a deeply dramatic role. Byrne described playing her character Linda as both thrilling and intimidating, saying the experience pushed her creatively and kept her adrenaline high—even making her nervous to watch the final film.

Rose Byrne's Career

Byrne noted that her career didn't begin in comedy. She recalled her 2004 role in 'Troy,' where she played Briseis, a Trojan princess and priestess captured by the Greeks, who develops a complicated romance with Achilles, played by Brad Pitt. She fondly remembered Pitt as being very kind on set.

'Troy' featured a star-studded cast including Eric Bana, Orlando Bloom, Diane Kruger, Brian Cox, Peter O'Toole, and Sean Bean. Directed by Wolfgang Petersen and written by David Benioff, the film earned over $490 million worldwide despite mixed critical reviews.

Two years later, Rose Byrne appeared in another period drama, Sofia Coppola's 'Marie Antoinette,' where she enjoyed the experience of wearing elaborate costumes and filming at Versailles.

By her late 20s, Byrne decided to explore comedy, leading to her breakout role in 2011's 'Bridesmaids' as the over-the-top friend Helen Harris III. She continued with comedy hits like 'Neighbors' and 'Spy,' and currently stars in the Apple TV series 'Platonic.'

Looking back, Rose Byrne said that making 'Troy' was intense and demanding, and she could already see herself needing the lighter side of comedy in future projects. The blend of dramatic and comedic work has shaped her career into the versatile path she enjoys today.
