Guillermo del Toro's 'Frankenstein' has quickly become one of the most talked-about films of the year, and its strong response from both critics and viewers has sparked plenty of conversation about what could come next.

While attending the Palm Springs Film Festival, Mia Goth shared that fans are not alone in wondering about a possible continuation. She revealed that she has already discussed the idea with del Toro himself. Goth also spoke about how meaningful it was to be cast by the filmmaker in two roles, calling the experience overwhelming in the best way. She described feeling honoured, nervous, and excited all at once, and said working with Guillermo del Toro made the entire process feel truly special.

Mia Goth on 'Bride of Frankenstein'

As buzz grows around the film, the idea of adapting 'Bride of Frankenstein' has naturally come up. Goth admitted she raised the topic directly with Guillermo del Toro, but his response was a simple and significant reminder that Victor Frankenstein is dead. She acknowledged that this creates a major storytelling challenge. Even so, the fact that the conversation happened at all suggests the door is not entirely closed.

'Frankenstein' was designed as a complete story, but Mia Goth's enthusiasm and her creative connection with del Toro make it clear she would be open to returning if he ever finds a way to expand the world.

Critical reactions to the film have highlighted just how personal the project is for Guillermo del Toro. In a review for Collider, Ross Bonaime described 'Frankenstein' as the result of the director's lifelong fascination with Mary Shelley's novel. The film stands out for its sweeping visuals, detailed production design, impressive creature effects, and an emotional performance from Jacob Elordi as the monster.

At the same time, the review notes that the film's deep commitment to its source material and long-developed ideas can make the pacing feel uneven.

Bonaime also pointed out that while 'Frankenstein' may not be del Toro's most accessible work, it is deeply rewarding to see him finally bring this passion project to life. Guillermo del Toro has even suggested that completing the film felt like closing a chapter in his career, leaving audiences curious about what kind of story he might tell next.

'Frankenstein' is now streaming on Netflix.
