In addition to her breakthrough performance as Max Mayfield on 'Stranger Things,' Sadie Sink has become one of Hollywood's most well-known young celebrities thanks to her beautiful, natural red hair that has never once been dyed. She has established an incredible career in Broadway, cinema, and television at the young age of 23 while maintaining her sense of self.
Recently, she opened up about the personal meaning behind her signature hair colour, why she's committed to keeping it natural forever, and how her approach to beauty and fashion reflects a broader desire to remain authentic in an industry that often demands constant reinvention.
Staying True to Her Red—and Herself

At 23, actress Sadie Sink has become a household name, thanks largely to her breakout role as Max Mayfield on 'Stranger Things.' However, Sink is committed to staying grounded despite her notoriety and flashing cameras, beginning with her distinctive natural red hair. In a November 2025 feature for Glamour, she revealed she has "never dyed her hair," adding emphatically, "I don't think I will." She clarified that having a redhead as a child means developing a unique relationship with one's hair, which may occasionally be equal parts of adoration and frustration.
"Anybody with red hair knows the ups and downs…Sometimes you're like, 'Yes, I love my hair. It's the best thing ever.' And then sometimes you're like, Oh my God, I hate it. I just want to change it." Still, the advice she's heard all her life—"people pay so much money for that hair"—resonated enough that she stuck with it. Sink went on to say that she embraces a look she refers to as "blank-slate" and has done neither tattoos nor any body piercings. She prefers to stay true to herself in an industry that is frequently defined by transformation.

More Than a Redhead—A Rising Star with Range
Sadie Sink's brilliance goes far beyond her striking red hair. She has demonstrated significant acting abilities prior to 'Stranger Things,' from Broadway shows to a part in the critically acclaimed movie 'The Whale.' Her recent turn in the play 'John Proctor Is the Villain' earned her a coveted 2025 Tony Award nomination—a clear sign she isn't content to be boxed in as "just a TV actor."
Sink acknowledges that she battles self-doubt as she moves from stage to film and back again. She frequently cringes when she sees her early work on 'Stranger Things,' particularly in Season 2, when she was still so young.

But with time, she says, she's grown—more confident, more aware of her craft, and more appreciative of how far she's come.
She's also exploring new ground as the last season of 'Stranger Things' is coming to an end. Currently residing in London, Sink is apparently working on a major film, most likely 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day,' and preparing for her Romeo and Juliet stage debut on the West End.
On top of that, she'll serve as an executive producer on a film adaptation of 'John Proctor,' signaling a shift toward creative control as well as performance.

Beauty, Fashion—and Quiet Confidence
Sink seems to prefer simplicity over spectacle when it comes to fashion and beauty. She mentioned in her interview with Glamour that actors are under tremendous pressure to continuously change their appearance, and she refuses to comply. "Growing up in that, and actively being a part of that…it's a little confusing sometimes," she admitted. She therefore prefers comfort and authenticity over drastic changes.

That doesn't mean she avoids the red carpet altogether. But even there, she picks pieces she feels good in rather than those designed solely to shock or impress. As her career continues to evolve—from a beloved teen character on a hit series to serious stage and film actor, budding producer, and a fashion-conscious young woman comfortable in her skin—Sadie Sink offers something increasingly rare: the grace to grow without losing herself.
