Selena responded to Hailey’s recent interview, which sparked rumours about her feelings over parallels to her beauty brand, with a brief but straight Instagram Story post. In it, Selena stated, "She can say whatever she wants," and urged people to break the gossip cycle. Her comments mark the latest chapter in a story that intertwines beauty‑business rivalry, former relationships, and persistent media buzz.
Hailey's Comments Spark the Resurgence

This time, the spark was Hailey's recent interview with WSJ Magazine, in which she discussed the similarities between Selena's business, Rare Beauty, and her own brand, Rhode Beauty. Being compared to other people is "always annoying," according to Hailey, who didn’t request it. "I don't feel competitive with individuals that I'm not inspired by," she continued. Although Hailey's management denied it was about any specific person, many people interpreted it as a subtle jab at Selena.
But for Selena, it meant something else, and she responded with an Instagram story, stating, "Just leave the girl alone. She can say whatever she wants. Doesn't affect my life whatsoever. It's just about relevance not intelligence. Be kind. All brands inspire me. There is room for everyone. And hopefully we can all stop."

Past Overlaps, Present Realities
The main source of Selena and Hailey's attention-grabbing conflict is their mutual relationship with Justin Bieber—Selena dated Justin intermittently for years before to his 2018 marriage to Hailey. Despite both women’s declarations that there is no personal animosity, the subject has not been put to rest by fan narratives or media attention.
Selena previously requested in March 2025 that her fans should refrain from making harsh remarks about Hailey after she disclosed that Hailey had contacted her regarding threats. Later, Hailey publicly thanked Selena for speaking up. But that earlier moment of ceasefire did not last.
