Snoop Dogg Names Rappers Who’d Shine in an Olympic-Style Rapping Competition

Snoop Dogg has shared his picks for rappers who would excel if rapping were an Olympic sport.

Ahead of his role as a torchbearer at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, the 52-year-old rap legend spoke with Billboard and named three artists who he believes would shine in such a competition. Snoop’s choices include Eminem for his global influence, Rakim for his classic old-school style, and Queen Latifah to bring some royalty to the mix.

Earlier this week, Snoop was announced as the final torchbearer for the Olympics before the opening ceremony on 26th July. He expressed his excitement about the honour, stating, “I see it as a prestigious honour. I never would have dreamed of something like this. I’ll be on my best behaviour and showcasing my best athleticism.”

The announcement was made by the Mayor of Saint-Denis, Mathieu Hanotin, who praised Snoop’s involvement in the torch relay. Snoop also shared his enthusiasm for X with a photo of himself in Paris, writing, “U ready? Paris 2024 Olympics ya digggg.”

In addition to his torch-bearing role, Snoop will provide coverage of the Games for NBC. He expressed his excitement about the upcoming event, saying, “I grew up watching the Olympics and can’t wait to see the incredible athletes in action. It’s going to be the most epic Olympics ever, so stay tuned for all the excitement.”
