Snoop Dogg to Bear Olympic Torch for Final Leg in France

Snoop Dogg has been announced as a torchbearer for the final hours of the Olympic torch’s journey through France. The iconic rapper will carry the torch in the streets of Saint-Denis, where the Stade de France Olympic stadium is located, ahead of the 2024 Olympics opening ceremony in Paris on 26th July.

Joining Snoop as torchbearers will be French rapper MC Solaar, French actress Laetitia Casta, and retired Ukrainian pole vaulter Sergey Bubka. From there, the flame will travel to its final destination at the Olympic cauldron in the Tuileries Gardens in central Paris. The identity of the final torchbearer, who will conclude the weeks-long relay, has yet to be revealed.

The Olympic torch has been making its way through France since May, with notable figures like Halle Berry and Formula One driver Charles Leclerc among the torchbearers.

Snoop will join NBC and Peacock’s primetime coverage of the games starting 26th July. He first appeared as a correspondent with Kevin Hart during the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, where he gained attention for his amusing reaction to a horse’s dance move during the Equestrian event. Snoop enthusiastically remarked on the horse’s performance, even suggesting it should be in a music video, which quickly went viral.

Snoop Dogg mentioned to Jimmy Fallon that he plans to meet the horse that went viral during the 2021 Tokyo Olympics later this year. He expressed excitement about meeting the returning champion and showing his admiration.

Additionally, the iconic rapper recently participated in a 200m race at the United States’ team trials for the 2024 Summer Olympics. The race was a mock trial, and Snoop joined in for fun, competing against four-time Olympic medalist Ato Bolden and 200-meter specialist Wallace Spearmon.

In other news, Snoop has spoken about his relationship with Dr. Dre, describing him as a consistent mentor and big brother figure.
