Sydney Sweeney is putting long-running plastic surgery speculation to rest and making it clear she’s tired of people dissecting how her appearance has evolved over the years.
During a new Allure interview with her, 'The Housemaid' costar Amanda Seyfried, the 28-year-old actress, selected a "beauty rumour" she wanted to eliminate once and for all. Sweeney chose to address claims that she has undergone cosmetic work, firmly stating that she has never had any procedures and explaining that she has a significant fear of needles.
Sydney Sweeney's Frustrations Over Social Media
The 'Euphoria' and 'Anyone But You' star, who has been acting since childhood, also shared her frustration with social media users who compare photos from her early teens to recent professional images. She pointed out that it's unrealistic to compare pictures taken at age 12 with those taken at 26 under professional lighting, makeup, and styling—naturally, anyone would look different.

Sweeney also expressed the belief that online criticism has become increasingly irrational.
Amanda Seyfried on Cosmetic Procedures
Seyfried, 40, joined the conversation by noting that certain cosmetic procedures can be helpful as someone gets older. Sydney Sweeney responded playfully, saying she would reach out to Seyfried if she ever changed her mind about treatments. Seyfried joked that she would even help calm Sweeney’s nerves if she ever decided to try something, though she reassured her younger costar that she didn’t need anything at this stage.
Later in the discussion, Sweeney referenced her facial symmetry, explaining that if she had undergone cosmetic work, her features would look more even. When Seyfried asked what she meant, Sydney Sweeney revealed that a wakeboarding accident from her youth required 19 stitches and left one of her eyes opening slightly more than the other. Seyfried responded that she hardly noticed and commented that cosmetic procedures require careful, thoughtful application—not the excessive approach some people take.

Sydney Sweeney has spoken before about criticism related to her appearance. In an October 27 interview with Variety, she recalled being told as a teenager that she needed to “fix” her face and consider Botox if she wanted a career in Hollywood. She emphasised that she was only 16 at the time. In that same interview, Sweeney reiterated that she has never altered her face, has no tattoos, avoids needles entirely, and intends to age naturally.
The actress continues to advocate for embracing natural beauty while pushing back against unrealistic expectations placed on performers—especially those who grew up in the spotlight.
