Sydney Sweeney Will Return to ‘Madame Web’ Under One Condition

Sydney Sweeney is carving out a name for herself in Hollywood with her diverse roles and captivating performances. From rom-coms to action-packed superhero flicks, the ‘White Lotus’ star is winning over the hearts of her fans.

In her most recent role in the movie ‘Madame Web,’ Sweeney showcased her talent as an action superhero. Despite the film’s lukewarm reception, the 26-year-old actress expressed enthusiasm about reprising her role.

During an interview with Comicbook.com, Sweeney was asked if she would consider returning for another ‘Spider-Man’ movie. The prospect of sharing scenes with Zendaya, who portrays MJ in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), intrigued her. While Sweeney plays Spider-Woman in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (SSU), separate from the MCU, the idea excited her nonetheless.

However, the possibility of Sweeney and Zendaya appearing together in the same movie remains uncertain, given the distinct timelines of their respective characters. ‘Madame Web’ is set years before Tom Holland’s Spider-Man comes into existence, making a crossover challenging without the concept of the multiverse.

As for ‘Madame Web’ itself, the film faced considerable backlash from audiences and critics alike. From its promotion to its execution on screen, the movie failed to impress. Despite its release on 14th February, the film struggled at the box office, grossing only USD 97.2 million worldwide—less than its production budget of USD 100 million.

Even the lead star, Dakota Johnson, found herself embroiled in controversy due to her conduct during promotional interviews, leaving Sony Pictures disappointed.
