Tami Stronach Makes Comeback With First Film in 40 Years: Watch The Trailer Now

Tami Stronach, renowned for her iconic portrayal of the Childlike Empress in the 1984 fantasy classic ‘The NeverEnding Story,’ took a long hiatus from the film industry after her debut. However, after four decades, she has made a remarkable return with her latest project, ‘Man and Witch: The Dance of a Thousand Steps’.
To break a curse, the Goatherd must embark on a quest that includes lifting a monumental sacred object, navigating through an ogre’s lair, and ultimately executing an intricately complex dance.

In the newly released trailer, an exclusive preview shared by Entertainment Weekly, viewers catch a glimpse of Stronach in her role as the enigmatic sorceress, engaging in a series of challenging tasks with the film’s protagonist, the Lonely Goatherd (played by Greg Steinbruner, who co-wrote the film and is also Stronach’s husband).
‘Man and Witch: The Dance of a Thousand Steps’ presents a whimsical and adventurous narrative reminiscent of beloved 1980s fantasy films such as The Princess Bride and Willow.
Speaking with EW in 2020, Stronach expressed her desire to tap into the nostalgia surrounding ’80s fantasy cinema while infusing the story with fresh twists and values, echoing the essence of rooting for the underdog, a sentiment evoked by Bastian’s journey in ‘The NeverEnding Story.’
The film faced significant delays, including challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, yet Stronach views the timing of its release, coinciding with the 40th anniversary of ‘The NeverEnding Story,’ as serendipitous. She remarked on the journey of creating the film, acknowledging the unforeseen obstacles but emphasising that they ultimately contributed to a perfect moment for her comeback.
Stronach’s vision for ‘Man and Witch’ extends beyond entertainment; she aims to uplift audiences with laughter, delight, and a sense of joy, devoid of cynicism—a departure from typical contemporary narratives.
