Pop icon Taylor Swift has been named 2025's top global recording artist by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) in its latest annual report.
The organisation highlighted the massive success of her 12th studio album 'The Life of a Showgirl' and her documentary series 'The End of an Era,' noting that both projects significantly boosted global fan engagement and sales.
Taylor Swift's Prestigious Title
This marks the sixth time Taylor Swift has earned the prestigious title. She previously topped the chart in 2014, 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2024, and 2025 now makes it her fourth consecutive year at No. 1—a rare achievement in the music industry.

South Korean supergroup BTS were the last act to surpass her dominance, claiming the top spot in 2020 and 2021.
In an Instagram announcement, IFPI celebrated Swift's milestone, stating that she has broken her own record by securing the No. 1 position for a sixth time and extending her consecutive streak to four years following the release of 'The Life of a Showgirl.'
Fans Celebrate Taylor Swift's Success
Fans, widely known as Swifties, quickly took to social media to celebrate the achievement. Many praised her consistency and lasting impact, with one supporter pointing out that she continues to compete only with herself—a legacy few artists can match.
Released on 3rd October 2025, 'The Life of a Showgirl' features 12 tracks, including 'Opalite', 'Wood', 'Elizabeth Taylor' and 'Actually Romantic.' The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and remained there for 12 weeks. Singles such as 'Opalite' and 'The Fate of Ophelia' also performed strongly on the Billboard Hot 100.

IFPI noted in a statement that Taylor Swift has now won the award as many times as all other artists combined over the past decade, proving her extraordinary global impact.
The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, which represents the recorded music industry worldwide, releases its Global Artist Chart annually to honour the year's biggest-selling acts. Results for the Global Single and Global Albums charts are expected to be revealed later this week.
