This Margot Robbie Movie is Dominating Netflix

Netflix's recent data unveils a surprising trend, highlighting ‘The Legend Of Tarzan’ as a standout on the streaming platform. Despite being originally released in 2016, the film, starring Margot Robbie and Alexander Skarsgård from Succession, gained notable attention by securing the sixth spot in the list of most-watched English films on Netflix in the final week of January.

The movie accumulated an impressive 7.6 million streaming hours during this period.

While the recent data marks a slight decline from the prior week when it held the second position with 14.4 million hours viewed, ‘The Legend Of Tarzan’ has managed to resurface and captivate audiences. The film, which retells the classic Tarzan story, was somewhat forgotten despite its box office success, grossing over $350 million.

Directed by David Yates, known for his work on Harry Potter, the live-action adaptation boasts a star-studded cast, featuring Margot Robbie, Alexander Skarsgård, Samuel L. Jackson, Jim Broadbent and Christoph Waltz.

Skarsgård takes on the titular role, portraying a man adopted and raised by apes, based on Edgar Rice Burrows' 1912 story, ‘Tarzan Of The Apes.’ The film serves as a variation on the 1999 Disney adaptation, which became the highest-grossing film of its release year.

Nearly eight years post its release, ‘The Legend Of Tarzan’ is experiencing an unexpected surge in popularity. This revival could be attributed to Margot Robbie's rising stardom, especially after her success in Greta Gerwig's ‘Barbie,’ or possibly fueled by Alexander Skarsgård's Golden Globe-nominated performance in the HBO hit series, ‘Succession’.

The film's newfound buzz might also be a consequence of it being freshly added to Netflix in early January, coinciding with the availability of Yorgos Lanthimos' Oscar-winning ‘The Favourite.’ This, in turn, adds to the excitement surrounding the director, particularly with the recent release of ‘Poor Things’ and the announcement of his Oscar nomination.
