No—the colour choice wasn't inspired by Taylor Swift. Although Swift recently embraced bold orange tones to promote her 'The Life of a Showgirl' album, she's not the only star tapping into the shade’s marketing power.

Timothée Chalamet, the lead of A24's upcoming film 'Marty Supreme,' selected orange as the movie’s signature colour during a marketing meeting about a month after Swift's release. He decided that the vivid shade should be visually linked to the ping-pong-themed movie, and the idea quickly became central to the film’s promotional strategy.

Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner's Orange Colour Choice

Timothée Chalamet brought that concept to life when he and his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, appeared at the Los Angeles premiere wearing coordinated neon-orange looks. The 29-year-old actor arrived in a custom Chrome Hearts leather suit paired with an orange silk shirt and matching Timberland boots. He completed the look with a black leather Chrome Hearts ping-pong paddle case worn over his shoulder as a nod to the movie's theme.

Kylie matched him in a striking floor-length orange gown featuring triangular cutouts, a plunging neckline, and cross embellishments echoed in her jewellery. She finished the ensemble with sleek orange pointed-toe pumps.

Why Timothée Chalamet Chose an Orange Outfit?

At first glance, the couple's monochromatic outfits may appear to be a simple colour-coordination moment. But Chalamet's now-viral marketing Zoom call—shared by A24 in November—revealed that the colour choice carries intentional symbolism. In the meeting, he described several specific shades of orange that he believed reflected the gritty, intense tone of the film, including variations that conveyed corrosion, decay, and deep saturation.

He referenced the global "pink" phenomenon surrounding the 'Barbie' movie as an example of how a single colour can fuel a cultural moment. He told the team that he wanted 'Marty Supreme' to spark a similar visual trend, and even joked about transforming major landmarks—including the Statue of Liberty, the Eiffel Tower, the Pyramids of Giza, and the Taj Mahal—into orange to imprint the shade into the public imagination.

Timothée Chalamet's Choice of Film Poster

During the meeting, Timothée Chalamet also presented an early mock-up of the exact shade he wanted on the film's posters, explaining that an artist had spent months refining the colour. He stressed that it was still a work in progress, but intended to become a defining part of the campaign. He later pitched the idea of using a blimp as a promotional tool, which the team eventually brought to life. Orange 'Marty Supreme' blimps have since been spotted flying overhead in multiple locations.

The marketing rollout hasn't stopped there. The film's orange-branded jackets have exploded across social media, worn by high-profile names including Tom Brady, Frank Ocean, Kendall Jenner, Michael Phelps and others. Most recently, Kylie Jenner's mother, Kris Jenner, joined the wave by wearing the coveted jacket herself.

With Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner making their boldest orange statement yet on the red carpet, the colour has officially become synonymous with 'Marty Supreme,' which hits theatres on Christmas Day.
