At a special 'Sandler X Chalamet' event hosted in the gymnasium at Fairfax High School in Los Angeles on 15th November, Timothée Chalamet and Adam Sandler took the stage for an emotional, in-depth conversation. Chalamet turned to Sandler with a great deal of respect after watching a scene from Paul Thomas Anderson's 'Punch-Drunk Love,' which transformed what had begun as a conversation about their careers into a moment of pure admiration. Chalamet called out the performance as "impactful, and deeply moving," adding that it challenged everything people thought they knew about Sandler and made him realize just how "incredible" an actor Sandler truly is.
Chalamet said, "I know it's not about awards, blah, blah, blah, but you should have a golden man in your hand, because man, you're one of the best f---ing actors on the planet," with passion and a hint of urgency in his voice. Chalamet's praise was wasn't just for that one dramatic role—he spoke about Sandler's entire body of work, from his wild comedies to his serious, deeply human roles like 'Uncut Gems.'

Sandler's Warm Response and Their Growing Bond
With sincere appreciation, Sandler accepted Chalamet's commendation and praises. He responded to Chalamet by stating how much he admires the younger actor's work, and added, "What you continue to do for cinema and for all of us is beyond it all. I just cannot wait to see what you bring in the future." Their on-stage chemistry was genuine as they reenacted each other's past performances— Sandler's 'Big Daddy,' 'Uncut Gems,' and Chalamet's 'Call Me by Your Name,' 'Dune: Part Two,' and his Bob Dylan biopic 'A Complete Unknown.'

It's interesting to note that despite having never acted together, they share a long history together. Chalamet disclosed that, although his role was eventually removed, he had a brief appearance in Jason Reitman's 'Men, Women & Children' (2014), the same movie in which Sandler acted. Guitars, Saturday Night Live memories, and basketball (they even played a surprise 2-on-2 game with fans) were other things that brought them together.
Why Chalamet Thinks Sandler Deserves More Recognition?
Chalamet saw Sandler's 'Punch-Drunk Love' as more than just a show; it was a life-changing experience. According to him, that part revealed a side of Sandler that viewers rarely see—one that was intensely passionate and achingly honest. Despite Sandler's lengthy career, which includes 'Happy Gilmore' and 'Uncut Gems,' Chalamet feels that he hasn't gotten the full credit he merits, especially from institutions like the Oscars.

Additionally, Chalamet also revealed that he has just wrapped filming on 'Dune: Part Three,' a project that holds personal meaning for him. As for Sandler, he's currently promoting his upcoming Netflix film 'Jay Kelly,' while Chalamet is set to star in 'Marty Supreme,' directed by Josh Safdie. Their mutual admiration and respect for each other' works, highlighted a rare bond between two wildly disparate but intensely passionate actors—one a comedy icon and the other an Oscar-nominated rising star.
