Timothée Chalamet recently reunited with 'Interstellar' director Christopher Nolan at a special screening of the film—and took the opportunity to reflect on how much the project still means to him.
Although Chalamet had a relatively small role in the 2014 sci-fi epic, he revealed during a post-screening conversation that it remains his favourite project to this day. In 'Interstellar,' he played the teenage son of Matthew McConaughey's character, a former NASA pilot who travels through space on a mission to save humanity. The adult version of his character was later portrayed by Casey Affleck.

Timothée Chalamet Reflects on Acting in 'Interstellar'
Looking back, Timothée Chalamet explained that even though he was far down the cast list and didn't have a huge part, the film came into his life at a time when his career was still uncertain. He said things were not yet established for him, and the experience left a lasting impact. He added that it is still the project he cherishes most and the film he has watched more than any other.
Christopher Nolan Shared Memories From 'Interstellar'
During the conversation, Nolan shared a funny memory from filming. He looked back on a powerful scene where Matthew McConaughey's character sits down to watch emotional video messages sent from his family back on Earth—and yes, it was every bit as tear-jerking as you remember.
Nolan explained that during filming, Timothée Chalamet chose to play the scene with a much darker tone than he had anticipated. The director admitted he initially did not love the choice and told Chalamet so. However, Chalamet stuck to his instincts and continued performing the scene the way he had planned.

Christopher Nolan said it was clear that Timothée Chalamet knew exactly what he wanted to do. It was not about being difficult or stubborn—Chalamet had carefully thought through his performance choices and did not want to change them on the spot. Nolan seemed to admire that confidence and preparation.
Since 'Interstellar,' Chalamet has gone on to become one of Hollywood's biggest young stars, thanks to major roles in the 'Dune' films and movies like 'Wonka.' Still, despite his growing list of high-profile projects, he says 'Interstellar' remains closest to his heart.
In other news, Timothée Chalamet personally shelled out a six-figure amount just so he could perform Bob Dylan songs on SNL.
