The four-time Academy Award nominee has once again raised the bar, setting a new Guinness World Record for the “most burning parachute jumps by an individual.” Famous for doing his own gravity-defying stunts – from scaling the Burj Khalifa and clinging to a plane mid-takeoff, to launching a motorcycle into the air—he’s now added another unbelievable feat to his legacy: jumping out of a plane not once, but 16 times, with a parachute deliberately set on fire.

A certified skydiver, he performed the stunt from a height of 7,500 feet. What makes it even more astonishing is that the parachute was intentionally ignited before the jump. Each dive demanded precise timing, nerves of steel, and incredible control.

The daring sequence features in the latest installment of the ‘Mission: Impossible’ franchise. In it, Cruise’s character, Ethan Hunt, (spoiler alert) is seen grabbing a parachute from a failing biplane before leaping into the sky. Mid-air, the chute catches fire. With seconds to spare, Hunt cuts it loose and activates his reserve parachute, barely escaping catastrophe.

With this new record under his belt, fans are left wondering what adrenaline-fuelled challenge he’ll take on next.

Upcoming Projects

According to Deadline, the actor isn’t slowing down anytime soon. He’s reportedly brainstorming concepts for ‘Top Gun 3’ and also developing a sequel to ‘Days of Thunder’ two of his iconic films that could soon return to the big screen.

If history has taught us anything, it’s that Cruise isn’t just an action star, he’s a cinematic daredevil who thrives on rewriting the rules of what’s possible on screen.
