Tracee Ellis Ross made a fashion statement on the red carpet at the Los Angeles premiere of ‘American Fiction’, turning it into her runway. The 51-year-old actress graced the event at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, California.

Tracee Ellis Ross donned a pink strapless floor-length dress paired with a subtle green duster coat. Ross opted for a focus on diamond necklaces rather than earrings for her accessories and she adorned each middle finger with decorative rings. She completed her look with a sleek bun hairstyle.

Tracee Ellis Ross's Perspective on Fashion

In a candid interview back in 2016, Ross shared her perspective on fashion, stating, “I’ve always been connected to the narrative of clothing. My mom taught me that you can spend money on nice things if you’re going to use them. For example, I have an Alexander McQueen jacket that I wear with everything, even sweatpants.”

The premiere was attended by ‘American Fiction' director Cord Jefferson, as well as actors Jeffrey Wright, John Ortiz, Erika Alexander, Leslie Uggams, Adam Brody, Keith David and Sterling K. Brown.

What is ‘American Fiction’ about?

‘American Fiction’ centres around Dr. Thelonious “Monk” Ellison (Wright), a frustrated novelist who challenges the establishment profiting from 'Black' entertainment that relies on tired and offensive tropes, according to MGM.

Monk, seeking to make a statement, writes a "Black" book under a pen name, inadvertently immersing himself in the very media world he criticizes. In the film, Tracee Ellis Ross takes on the role of Lisa Ellison, Monk's sister. In the source material, Erasure, a 2001 book by Percival Everett, Ross' character works at a women's health clinic and grapples with a somewhat strained relationship with her brother, stemming from past parental favouritism tilted in his direction.

This film, ‘American Fiction’, is the third project Ross has been involved in that was released in 2023, following 'Cold Copy' and 'Candy Cane Lane.' Earlier this year, she expressed her confidence, stating, "I think I'm the s*xiest I've ever been. I feel fantastic, and I feel like the world is my oyster."

Ross reiterated this sentiment in an episode of the podcast ‘It's Been a Minute’, emphasizing her comfort in her skin despite society's obsession with youth. She remarked, "I know we are obsessed with youth. I would not go back if you paid me. Sure, my skin was tighter. Sure, my legs held muscles differently. But, I am so much more comfortable in my skin."

American Fiction is set to be released in theatres on 15th December.
