Tyla’s Performs ‘Jump’ at The 2024 BET Awards

The South African singer, Tyla, took the stage during Culture’s Biggest Night with a performance of her latest hit, ‘Jump’, featuring Gunna and Skillibeng. Her appearance marked a significant moment at the 2024 BET Awards, showcasing her talent to a global audience.

Clad in a brown two-piece bra and skirt set paired with black thigh boots, the ‘Water’ performer turned up the heat as she sang her track from behind a cage filled with dancers painted as a giant tiger—a subtle nod to her dedicated fanbase, the Tygers. The visually striking performance captivated the audience, blending artistry with energetic choreography.

Gunna and Skillibeng later joined her onstage to rap their verses, enhancing the performance with their dynamic presence. The rising star ended her lively set with her viral ‘Water’ dance move, paying homage to her Johannesburg roots. Tyla’s impressive performance earned her four nominations at the BET Awards this year, and she took home wins for Best New Artist and Best International Act.

This latest performance comes after Tyla had to cancel her debut concert tour around the release of her self-titled debut album in March. At the time, she revealed she was dealing with the lasting effects of an injury. The decision to cancel her tour was a difficult one, but necessary for her health.

“As much as this is something I would rather have dealt with privately, it’s important that I share what I have to share with you today. For the past year, I’ve been silently suffering with an injury that has tragically worsened,” Tyla wrote. “I’ve seen doctors and specialists with high hopes, but the pain has only become more agonising, as has the severity of the situation.”

She added, “I am absolutely heartbroken to have to say this, but as of right now, I won’t be able to proceed with the tour. In consulting with medical professionals, it’s become increasingly clear that continuing any festival or tour dates would jeopardise my long-term health and safety.” Tyla’s candidness about her struggles has resonated with her fans, who continue to support her on her journey to recovery.
