Unveiling The Role of Jeremy Renner in 'Knives Out 3'

On the day filming commenced for the third instalment of the ‘Knives Out’ series, director Rian Johnson shared an intriguing detail about one of the film's stars. During an interview with Netflix Tudum about ‘Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery’, Johnson discussed the role of MCU actor Jeremy Renner in the upcoming film. 

Renner, previously mentioned in the ‘Knives Out’ movie ‘Glass Onion’ via a hot sauce joke, is set to play a significant character in this instalment. Johnson expressed his excitement about working with Renner and joked about keeping the hot sauce off-screen this time, although he hinted at sneaking a few bottles onto the catering table.

Renner's journey in Hollywood has been remarkable, marked by a heartwarming comeback following a near-fatal snowplough incident in early 2023. Despite the setback, Renner has continued to thrive, currently starring in the third season of ‘Mayor of Kingstown’ and joining the ensemble cast of ‘Knives Out 3’. 

Renner's casting follows Johnson's pattern of recruiting MCU actors for his mystery movies, with previous examples including Chris Evans in ‘Knives Out’ and Edward Norton and Dave Bautista in ‘Glass Onion’.

Renner joins a stellar cast for ‘Knives Out 3’, which has steadily expanded since its initial announcement. Alongside Daniel Craig reprising his role as Benoit Blanc, the ensemble includes talents like Josh O'Connor, Cailee Spaeny, Andrew Scott, Kerry Washington, Glenn Close, Mila Kunis, Daryl McCormack, Josh Brolin, and Thomas Hayden Church.

With such an impressive lineup, anticipation is high for ‘Wake Up Dead Man’, set to release in 2025. Fans of Johnson's ‘Knives Out’ franchise can expect another gripping mystery, following the success of the previous instalments.
