Sydney Sweeney might have recently showcased her rom-com skills, but let's be real, she's not exactly the hopeless romantic type. Wondering why? Well, just take a look at the new SNL promo where she completely botches her meet-cute moment with Michael Longfellow, giving a hilarious twist to the classic bump-into-each-other-and-fall-in-love trope.

SNL dropped a forty-one-second promo video teasing its upcoming episode and it's a riot. The promo stars Sweeney and Longfellow, with the latter seen rifling through potential jokes while wandering around the set – “Not funny, not funny, too funny” – when suddenly he collides with Sydney Sweeney, who's engrossed in reading 'Kafka on the Shore', a renowned Haruki Murakami book.

Longfellow, staying in character, profusely apologizes to Sweeney for the accident, but she graciously takes the blame, saying, “No, it's my fault, I'm sorry.”

In a bid to charm Sweeney, Longfellow turns on the charm, claiming the book to be “one of my favourite books of all time.” He nervously asks, “This is crazy, uh, but would you ever maybe want to…” only to snap out of his reverie and realize that Sweeney has already walked away. “Oh, she already left a while ago. Cool! Whatever, I didn't like this book, anyways,” he quips.

Despite the hilarious mishap, The Euphoria star is gearing up to make her SNL hosting debut this week, with Kacey Musgraves as the musical guest.

Following her role as Casey Howard in 'Euphoria,' which had us all questioning our life choices, Sweeney showed her rom-com chops in 2023's 'Anyone But You' alongside Glen Powell. The film has soared past the $200 million mark at the global box office, becoming one of the most successful romantic comedies in recent years, according to Variety.
