Why Didn’t Millie Bobby Brown Return for ‘Godzilla vs. Kong: The New Empire’?

The absence of Millie Bobby Brown from 2024’s ‘Godzilla vs. Kong: The New Empire’ disappointed fans. Brown, who is well-known for playing Madison Russell in earlier MonsterVerse movies, left fans wondering why she hadn’t shown up.

The decision was made, as director Adam Wingard clarified because Madison’s character arc didn’t fit the plot of this episode. Wingard did, however, imply that Madison might make a comeback in the future.

Since Brown played Eleven in Netflix’s “Stranger Things,” fans were eager for her to play Madison Russell because of her success in ‘Godzilla: King of Monsters’ and ‘Godzilla vs. Kong.’ For ‘The New Empire,’ Wingard stated that streamlining the narrative was his top concern, which allowed for a smaller cast to focus more on character development.

Wingard hasn’t ruled out Madison’s return, even though her absence gives other characters—like Jia played by Kaylie Hottle and Dr. Andrews by Rebecca Hall—more opportunities to shine. In 2023, Brown plans to return to the role of Madison, emphasizing her relatability as a teenager with an engaging story.
