The iconic Avengers 'A' emblem was damaged with a bold red scrawl and followed with the simple caption, ‘WHAT’, along with a side-eye emoji, on 12th August, leaving Marvel fans in a state of confusion. The idea that his alter persona, Deadpool, would be preparing for an appearance in the impending MCU film ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, which is scheduled to release on 26th December, 2026.
Marvel Studios has not yet announced that Deadpool will be part of the ensemble cast, despite Reynolds' teasing. The only character from ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ who has been formally confirmed to make an appearance in Avengers: Doomsday thus far is Channing Tatum, reprising his role as Gambit.
MCU mainstays and returning X-Men luminaries like ‘Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn’, and ‘Kelsey Grammer’—a massive multiverse mash-up helmed by the Russo brothers—are among the film's confirmed cast.
Is Deadpool a tease or the real deal in the MCU?
Fans are drawn to Deadpool's possible appearance in Doomsday, and not just because of his humorous edge. The world-changing antics of the irreverent anti-hero have the potential to undermine the usual grandeur of the MCU in novel ways. Reynolds has the ability to leave followers reeling, as noted by Entertainment Weekly; his message might just be a prelude to a future disclosure or a real indication of what's to come.

According to Industry Insiders, the entire cast of Doomsday has not yet been revealed, and well-known characters like Deadpool or Wolverine might still be considered.
While fan excitement is at an all-time high, prudence is also in place. Marvel's typically PG-13 tone isn't well suited to Deadpool's R-rated persona, and his arrival might seriously disrupt the balance of the movie. Reynolds himself had said that joining the Avengers ‘could spell the end of his quest’, leaving fans to speculate if a cameo is more likely than a major role.
Overall, Deadpool's possible role in Avengers: Doomsday is still theoretical, but captivatingly, as neither Marvel nor Reynolds have provided any formal confirmation. Fandom has certainly been fuelled by Reynolds's Instagram tease, but until the studio speaks, we are torn between waiting for the announcement and feeling hopeful anticipation.
