A daring new biography about one of Hollywood's most notorious characters will be starring and produced by Aubrey Plaza. With the title ‘The Heidi Fleiss Story’, the movie uses Plaza's darkly hilarious yet terrifying comedic edge to examine the life of ‘Hollywood Madam’ Heidi Fleiss. Plaza, who was nominated for a Primetime Emmy for her terrifying role in ‘The White Lotus Season 2’, will venture into new terrain as she transforms into Fleiss, an astute businesswoman who operated a posh prostitution ring in Los Angeles in the 1990s. The project marks Plaza's first significant endeavour since her husband, filmmaker Jeff Baena, passed away tragically, early, this year.

Unfolding the Film’s Vision: Directors, Writers, and the Storyline

Leah Rachel, the creator of Netflix's Chambers, is directing her first feature film. She co-wrote the screenplay with Travis Jackson (Hemlock Grove) and Rachel Sennott (Bottoms). The film, which is supported by Plaza's own banner company Evil Hag and independent studio Pinky Promise (known for The Last Showgirl and Bird), promises a nuanced look at the intense drama of Fleiss's demise.

The Heidi Fleiss Story, which is set in the tense days before her arrest in 1993, chronicles her desperate attempts to evade prosecution by using her connections and position, with the unlikely help of a young, ambitious writer named Jaclyn, as she makes her way through LA's elite social circles. Although there isn't a set release date yet, production is expected to start in Los Angeles later this year.

In a revealing response, Heidi Fleiss herself acknowledged Plaza as ‘a great choice to play her’, but nonetheless clarified that she had no intention of watching the film. ‘The past is dead’, she noted, asserting, ‘No one can do what I did’. While not involved in production, Fleiss offered her well-wishes to the team behind the project.
