Zack Snyder Says “We’re Going to Get Superman Pretty Soon”

Zack Snyder recently shared his excitement about James Gunn’s DC Universe during a discussion about the interconnected world of superheroes. The DC Extended Universe (DCEU) was Warner Bros.’s ambitious project spanning from 2013 to 2023, aiming to weave together various DC Comics characters into a cohesive narrative.

However, the landscape shifted with creative changes behind the scenes and disappointing box office performances, leading to the emergence of a new DC Universe under the guidance of Peter Safran and James Gunn. Despite Snyder’s departure from his involvement in the DCEU after ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League,’ fans remain curious about his thoughts on the future of the DC film franchise, given his history with it.

During a recent interview with CBR, Snyder expressed his desire to see Gunn’s DC Universe thrive, highlighting his admiration for Gunn’s passion for comic books. Although Snyder is currently focused on promoting ‘Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver,’ he remains invested in the direction of the DCU under the new leadership at DC Studios.

Snyder emphasised the importance of respecting the characters’ origins and mythology, indicating his readiness to support the DC Universe if handled appropriately. When asked about his preferences, Snyder mentioned his openness to any character’s success as long as they stay true to their comic book roots. He also hinted at the imminent arrival of Superman in the new DC Universe.

Having collaborated with Gunn previously, Snyder expressed his support for Gunn and Safran’s leadership at DC Studios, highlighting their mutual respect and camaraderie. Despite his focus on the ‘Rebel Moon’ franchise, Snyder hopes to see it expand further with additional films and stories.

The DC Universe, established by Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson in 1935, has evolved into one of the largest comic book franchises, competing with Marvel. Snyder’s introduction of Henry Cavill as Superman in 2013 marked the beginning of a new era for DC, followed by a gentle reboot led by Gunn and Safran.
