Blackpink Inks Contract Deal With YG Entertainment

YG Entertainment disclosed the news in a regulatory filing this week

The K-pop girl group, Blackpink has officially renewed contracts with YG Entertainment. In the filing, YG Entertainment stated, “The board has completed a resolution about renewing the contracts with Blackpink’s four members”

The company announced in a press statement that Blackpink is gearing up for a new album and a world tour. YG founder Yang Hyun Suk expressed satisfaction in continuing their partnership, stating, “Blackpink will continue to do its best to shine even brighter in the global music market as an artist representing not only our company but also K-pop. And we send our unwavering support and faith to fans”. Sources revealed that negotiations are still ongoing for the individual contracts of the four group members.

Blackpink’s recent world tour of 66 performances across 34 cities, drew an audience of 2.1 million! The K-pop girl group was initially formed under YG in 2016. As the quartet achieved heightened recognition and global popularity, there has been speculation that the original seven-year deal would require significant renegotiation in favour of the artists.
