South Korean boy group, BTS, will be the subject of a new K-Drama, titled ‘Blue Sky’.

News of the upcoming project broke earlier this week, and have since been confirmed by the various production teams involved. The drama, ‘Blue Sky’ will detail BTS’ early days, and their pre-debut journey. Speculation suggests that the main storyline will revolve around the BTS Universe (BU) – an alternative storyline created by the group and explored in many of their albums.

According to K-Media reports, the series will be entirely fictional, based loosely on BTS. This isn’t the first time the BU has been adapted to non-musical mediums. A webtoon based on the members’ storylines was released early last year.

Further confirmations stated that the casting and key production meetings have begun and are underway. Actors from the industry will be chosen to play the roles of members RM, Jin, SUGA, J-Hope, V, Jimin and Jungkook. Reports further state that the names of the characters will not mirror the names of the BTS members.

Filming for ‘Blue Sky’ is slated to begin sometime in September, while the series is likely to reach us sometime in 2021. Other reports suggest that the broadcast will mainly be carried out via digital streaming.

And if having a TV show based on you isn’t enough, BTS have gone on to add another impressive notch to their belt of achievements. It has been announced that the septet officially has the 4th longest charting Korean album in history of the Billboard 200. Their competition being three albums by them.

“Map of the Soul: 7” spends its sixteenth week on the Billboard 200, charting at No. 64. Beating out their 2018 release: “Love Yourself: Tear”. The album trails behind other BTS projects: “Love Yourself: Answer”, “Love Yourself: Her” and “Map of the Soul: Persona”.
