Ed Sheeran Releases A Soulful Ballad

Every woman’s man of dreams, Ed Sheeran, is back with a release after over a year. The British pop star released a track titled “Afterglow” ahead of Christmas.

The release of Sheeran’s latest ballad dropped at 11 am after the “Perfect” hitmaker teased his fans with a snippet of his performance on Sunday.

The singer took to Instagram to announce the track on Monday. Ed captioned the post “Hey guys. Afterglow’ is a song I wrote last year that I wanted to release for you. It’s not the first single from the next album, it’s just a song I love, and hope you love too. Enjoy ! Have a safe and happy festive break and New Year’s. Back to dad land for me now, ciao x”

What A Melody!

As the singer croons, “We were love drunk waiting on a miracle/Trying to find ourselves in the winter snow/So alone in love like the world had disappeared.”, we cannot stop swaying to the melody of the song. The song follows along with the narration of Ed’s visit to Antarctica that he and wife Cherry Seaborn visited where they conceived their first child.

What’s Kept Ed At Bay?

Sheeran announced an 18-month long break after his ‘Divide’ world tour following which the couple welcome their baby girl Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran. The singer cannot stop gushing about his newborn who clearly has her daddy wrapped around her little finger.

“We are completely in love with her. Both mum and baby are doing amazing and we are on cloud nine over here. We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time. Lots of love and I’ll see you when it’s time to come back, Ed x.” Ed wrote at the time.

Sheeran last worked on the No.6 Collaborations Project in 2019. The soulful track, ‘Afterglow’,  is written along with David Hodges and Fred Gibson as the cowriters.

As fans celebrate the new number by their favourite singer, we wait for more with bated breath.
