Lady Gaga Drifts Off Into A Vibrant Dreamland For ‘911’

Lady Gaga recently created quite the buzz when she dropped a new visualizer from her “Chromatica” cut. Titled, ‘911’ this track arrived with a spoonful of vibrant colours and a generous dip into Gaga’s bizarre world.

For starters, the tune opens with a grand orchestral piece, before segueing into a ripe set of retro beats. ‘911’ then witnesses Gaga toss up robotic verses with some glorious falsettos as she sings,

Turning up emotional faders
Keep repeating self-hating phrases
I have heard enough of these voices
Almost like I have no choice

Can’t see me cry this is the end (ooh)
My biggest enemy is me
Pop a 911

Now, coming to the intriguing visualizer for this track, it’s safe to say that it is far more than just a vibrant performance video. Standing at almost 5 minutes, the video opens with a shot of Lady Gaga waking up in the middle of a vast desert, dressed in a blood red mask and sporting a turquoise hairdo. She then follows a mysterious hooded figure to a village where things just get a whole lot more bizarre.

We then see the young star execute a robotic dance routine among the vibrantly-clad village people. This pleasant yet unnerving routine continues for a large part of the video until Gaga is laid down against a golden board and seemingly stabbed by one of the villagers. And soon enough, we see the star jolt awake from this fever dream, coming to in an ambulance, at a crash site.

Now, while you attempt to decipher this obscure art-film like music video, perhaps the concept behind it can be best articulated by Gaga herself,  “Freedom for me is when I can go to the darkest part of my heart, visit things that are hard and then leave them behind.”
