The Black Eyed Peas Are All Set To Conquer The VMAs Stage

The MTV VMAs are reserving a special spot on stage for yet another impressive act. It’s The Black Eyed Peas. With every new addition to the steadily growing performers list, the VMAs are proving to be one of the most highly-anticipated events of 2020. 

So, on August 30, The Black Eyed Peas will take the stage to perform their latest single ‘Vida Loca’. This tune finds its space on the group’s eighth studio album, “Translation”.  Featuring Nicky Jam and Tyga, the tune witnesses a cocktail of high-energy beats and catchy hooks – characteristic of The Black Eyed Peas’ older numbers. Interestingly enough, the song also samples a part of MC Hammer’s ‘U Can’t Touch This’, sprinkled between verses. 

Now, conquering the VMA stage is no small feat for the group, in fact they’ve been waiting for the opportunity for a whopping seventeen years. The Black Eyed Peas last performed their 2003 track, ‘Where Is the Love?’ at the VMAs pre-show at Radio City Music Hall. But they never made it to the main show until now. That being said, it’s highly possible that ‘Vida Loca’ won’t be the only performance the band is gearing up for. There are speculations that The Black Eyed Peas will also team up with J Balvin to perform ‘Ritmo (Bad Boys for Life)’, which also happens to be nominated in the Best Collaboration category.  

Speaking of the much-anticipated VMAs stage, Will.i.am had this to say, “Looking back, I can’t believe The Black Eyed Peas have never played at the MTV Video Music Awards. To be on the top of the charts and on the MTV VMA big stage is a blessing.  Thanks to our fans who made this all possible, and we’re going to give them something very special with our first-ever performance of ‘Vida Loca.’”  

While the group might be newbies to the VMA stage, they’ve still managed to nab a number of nominations and wins in the past. In 2004, they walked away with the award for the Best Choreography in a Video for ‘Hey Mama‘. Next in line, ‘My Humps‘ bagged an award in the Best Hip-Hop Video category. In fact, this year, yet another track from their “Translation” cut has notched a nomination – ‘Mamacita’ featuring Ozuna and J Rey Soul. 

And so, it looks like the MTV VMAs are dangling yet another bait at the end of their hook.
