As we tick off another week into the month of August, we also say "welcome" to a whole lot of news from the music world. This week in music saw a string of new releases, record breaking moments from the who's who of pop music and teasers of upcoming projects.
Miley Cyrus teased a brand new single, Taylor Swift basically outsold the industry and The Weeknd released a surprise single. A lot went down. And, it's up to us to bring you the news. So, scroll away and stay caught up. Here's what went down this week in music.

1. Miley Cyrus took over the week with the announcement of her upcoming album: "She Is Miley Cyrus". She went on to tease her first single - 'Midnight Sky', coming 14th August.

2. The Weeknd announced and released a collaborative single with the late rapper, Juice WRLD. 'Smile' released amid minimum promotion and maximum fanfare.

3. Ava Max recruited musicians, Lauv and Saweetie, for an unexpected yet tantalising remix of her single, 'Kings & Queens'.

4. Taylor Swift's album "folklore" continued its record-breaking streak. Swift has become the female artist with the most entries on the Hot 100 charts (113) and made more history.

5. Troye Sivan surprised fans with a single off his upcoming EP, "In A Dream". This one is called 'Rager teenager!' and is accompanied by a trippy music video.

6. BTS left their mark on the week as they are set to make their debut at the 2020 VMAs, announced the release of their 4th film and revealed more about 'Dynamite', their upcoming single.

7. Dua Lipa took fans by surprise when she announced the release of the "Future Nostalgia"Remix Album. It will feature Madonna, Mark Ronson, and more.

8. Rap stars. Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion, announced and released their collaboration, 'WAP'. In addition, he track is a sexually charged trap-rap release.

9. Justin Bieber shared news of his and wife, Hailey Bieber's, joint baptism ceremony. He called it "the most special moment of my (his) life".

10. Lana Del Rey teased fans with the release of an upcoming song. This one will supposedly be called 'Tulsa Jesus Freak'.
