A massive freight train of new music barrelled through the past week, leaving us with our jaws hanging open. But honestly, we wouldn’t have it any other way. Especially when we’ve received new offerings from the likes of Dua Lipa, The Weeknd, Calvin Harris, Katy Perry and more.
Amid the new releases, this week has had its fair share of controversies, the ripest ones emerging from the hip-hop world. But this journey wouldn’t be that thrilling if there weren’t as many ups and downs. So, strap in because things are already starting to heat up in here and we can guarantee that it’s going to be one hell of a bumpy ride! (The good kind of course)

2. The Nigerian star, Tiwa Savage, recruited Sam Smith for her sultry new track, ‘Temptation’. This tune speaks of the thrill of a forbidden love affair.
3. Doja Cat plans to put out a song titled, ‘Nas’ in retaliation to the rap star’s diss. Nas on the other hand clarified that he meant no disrespect towards Doja in his latest track, ‘Ultra Black’.
4. Despite his string of nominations and scheduled performance, Roddy Ricch dropped out of this year’s VMAs.
5. The DJ duo, Disclosure, just teamed up with Kehlani and Syd for a brand new track titled, ‘Birthday’. This track sees the team ponder on the odd topic of whether it’s okay to call an Ex on their birthday.
6. Machine Gun Kelly and blackbear just dropped their fiery new music video for the track, ‘My Ex’s Best Friend‘. It features the former rocker performing some Mad Max-like stunts and the video actually managed to rake in over 1.2 million views under 24 hours.
7. Katy Perry finally dropped her highly-anticipated album, ‘Smile’. This record is ridden with twelve sparkly pop bangers that all tell tales of hope and resilience.
8. Dua Lipa finally dropped her remix album, “Club Future Nostalgia”. It features 17 tracks, remixed by legends from the dance music world.
9. The Weeknd and Calvin Harris just arrived with their brand new dish, a mellow R&B track titled, ‘Over Now’. This tune sees The Weeknd attempt to move on from a difficult relationship.
10. BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez just dropped their bubblegum pop tune, ‘Ice Cream’. Featuring sparkly beats and pretty melodies, this flirty number sees both acts step right out of their comfort zones.
