The Week In Music: News From September 7th to 13th
This week, the music Gods have been particularly generous, leaving treat after treat for us to lap up. As always, the music industry was taken by storm with a whirlwind of new releases from the likes of Sia, David Guetta, Demi Lovato, Lee Taemin and more.
And while these dishes prove to make quite the exquisite meal, there’s far more laid out on the table. Every week has been witness to some phenomenal chart wins. Be it Juice WRLD with his posthumous record, ‘Legends Never Die’ or Taylor Swift with ‘Folklore’. More recently, Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B have enjoyed their long stint under the spotlight with ‘WAP’ only to be later dethroned by BTS. And so, the music world has also had the pleasure of witnessing a new conquerer of the charts.
And with that, there’s nothing left to do but dive straight in! So, brace yourself for wave after wave of buzz-worthy news!

2. After much anticipation, DJ Khaled and Drake finally dropped their music video for the track, ‘Popstar’. And it featured the one, the only, Justin Bieber. Jumping aboard the ‘WAP’ trend, this video also peppered in a few other special cameos.
3. With ‘Folklore’s’ sixth week at No. 1, Taylor Swift’s cumulative weeks at No. 1, across all of her seven chart-topping albums, now rises to 46. That ties her with Whitney Houston for the most weeks atop the Billboard 200 chart by a woman in history.
4. Speaking of chart wins, BTS are enjoying their second week atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart with ‘Dynamite’. The boys even posted an adorable reaction video to their latest victory.
5. Halsey is gearing up to make her acting debut in a gritty new high school drama, ‘The Player’s Table‘. She’s set to star alongside her close collaborator, Euphoria’s Sweeney.
6. Meghan Trainor has resurfaced with a brand new festive offering, her upcoming album, ‘A Very Trainor Christmas‘. This record’s set to make its explosive landing on October 3oth. Nothing like an early Christmas present, eh?
7. The pop singer-songwriter, Mxmtoon, just recruited Carly Rae Jepsen onboard for a soulful acoustic tune, ‘Ok On Your Own’. The song discusses the recovery process after a breakup and the comfort that comes with having some time to yourself.
8. Sia recently joined forces with her long-time collaborator, David Guetta, for their ninth piece together — a buzzing new track titled, ‘Let’s Love’. Interestingly, this tune has also adopted the 80’s disco aesthetic currently consuming the modern pop genre.
9. That’s right, BLACKPINK have a brand new documentary coming up. This one’s set to trace their rise to fame, the recording process behind some of their biggest hits and culminates with their historic 2019 Coachella performance.
10. Demi Lovato recently tied up with Marshmello for a fresh piece titled, ‘Ok Not To Be Ok’. This tune speaks of mental health awareness and encourages people to speak up about their issues, hence – it’s okay not to be okay.
