Charlie Puth Announces New Song: ‘Hard on Yourself’

Singer-songwriter, Charlie Puth, took to social media to share news of an upcoming release. The singer teased the track, ‘Hard on Yourself’, with a visualiser of the project. In addition, he announced that rapper and songwriter, blackbear, will be joining him on the track, slated for release on the 14th of August, Friday. 

The visualiser which serves as a throwback to the 90s in terms of style features the silhouette of a woman in a shower. Accompanying the teaser was a caption by Puth that read: “From an Instagram beat I made in 10 minutes…to a full song just a couple weeks later. Hard on Yourself is out this Friday.” 

Previously, Charlie Puth took to social media to share an early sampler of the song with his followers. The clip sees him tinkering around with harmonies, notes on the piano and assembling an arrangement to work with. Following that post was a series of clues that indicated an upcoming collaboration with blackbear. And, that includes a fun video of the pair using the baby filter (one of Charlie’s favourites). 

Puth’s collaborator, blackbear, also took to Instagram to announce the upcoming release. And, now, there’s nothing left to do, but wait for the track to drop. From the teasers, it sounds like a signature Charlie Puth sound, reminiscent of his synth pop work in the past. 

‘Hard on Yourself’ marks the singer’s first release since his track ‘Girlfriend’ a few months ago, and is slated for release on the 14th of August, 2020.
