David Gilmour Claims New Solo Album is His “Best” Work Since ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’
David Gilmour has recently shared details about his upcoming solo album, ‘Luck And Strange’, which he believes stands as his most significant work since Pink Floyd’s legendary ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’. In an interview with Prog Magazine, Gilmour, who gained fame as a member of Pink Floyd before launching his solo career, expressed that ‘Luck And Strange’ surpasses his previous solo efforts, making it his best album since 1973.
This comparison is particularly striking, considering Pink Floyd’s subsequent releases, including the critically acclaimed ‘Animals’ and ‘The Wall’. Gilmour’s high regard for ‘Luck And Strange’ reflects his confidence in the album’s quality and its potential impact.
In his conversation with Prog Magazine, Gilmour hinted at starting work on a follow-up to ‘Luck And Strange’ shortly after its release. He expressed excitement about reuniting with several of the album’s collaborators, mentioning plans to release the new album soon after the current one and to continue working with the same team.
His wife, Polly Sampson, an author and lyricist, has previously captured and shared photos of Gilmour’s studio sessions on her personal Instagram.
Set to be released on 6th September, ‘Luck And Strange’ was recorded over five months in Brighton and London. The album features eight original tracks along with a reimagined version of The Montgolfier Brothers’ 1999 song ‘Between Two Points.’ Gilmour has already previewed the album with two singles, including ‘The Piper’s Call’ and the updated version of ‘Between Two Points,’ which also features his daughter, Romany Gilmour.
