A newly released biography has revealed a little-known chapter in the life of Queen frontman Freddie Mercury — that he may have had a daughter he kept out of the public eye for nearly five decades. The woman, now 48 and referred to only as “B,” claims she was born from a secret affair Mercury had in 1976 with the wife of one of his close friends.
Biographer Lesley-Ann Jones, in her book ‘Love, Freddie’, reveals that Mercury shared a deep and affectionate bond with B that lasted until his death in 1991. According to the biography, he gave her 17 handwritten journals filled with his personal reflections and life experiences — a gesture that, until now, had remained unknown to the public.
The journals are said to begin in June 1976, shortly after Queen released the single ‘You’re My Best Friend’, and continue up to July 1991. They document his journey from his childhood in Zanzibar and school years in India to his rise to fame in the UK.

In a letter included in the book, B wrote that Freddie Mercury was and remained her father, and that they shared a close and loving relationship from the day she was born until the end of his life. She explained that he adored her and treated her as something precious.
She also shared that her decision to break her silence came from a desire to let her father’s voice be heard. After more than 30 years of speculation and distortion, she felt it was time for Freddie to speak through the writings he had entrusted to her as his only child and next of kin.
Lesley-Ann Jones admitted that she was initially skeptical when B reached out to her three years ago. She said her instinct was to question the entire story, but added that after working with B for over three years without any demands being made, she had become convinced of the woman’s authenticity. Jones remarked that no one could have fabricated such extensive detail and emotional insight.
Though B continues to keep her identity private, her decision to share her story and Mercury’s journals has opened up a deeply personal and previously hidden part of the legendary singer’s life.
