‘Happier’ by Marshmello & Bastille Joins the YouTube Billion Views Club

Since it has been spreading joy to listeners for four years and counting, Marshmello and Bastille’s 2018 collaboration is now a part of YouTube’s Billion Views Club.

The video sharing website announced that the ‘Happier’ music video by Marshmello and Bastille had received more than 1 billion views! The video features Miranda Cosgrove, an actress best known for her role on iCarly, going through a series of growing pain during her teenage years made easier by the company of a furry friend. 

Cosgrove’s dog, which was a gift from her father in the music video, tragically passes away, but history repeats itself when an older Cosgrove’s daughter receives a puppy for her birthday.

Marshmello and Bastille’s single ‘Happier’ was a hit; it lasted a total of 52 weeks at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 list. Hot Dance/Electronic Songs saw even more popularity for the song, with a total of 69 weeks at the top.

Marshmello said that he had recently lost his best friend and wanted this video to embrace the pain that we feel, losing or sacrificing something and the cycle of life that comes with it. He said he wants this song and video to bring closure in any situation and make everyone happy.
