‘Hwa Sa’ Releases Quirky Cover of ‘Watermelon Sugar’

Hwa Sa stuns with new cover

Birthdays are meant for receiving but for MAMAMOO’s Hwa Sa, it’s just the opposite. The K-Pop heavyweight chose to celebrate her birthday by surprising fans with a breezy cover of Harry Styles’ hit single, ‘Watermelon Sugar’

Hwa Sa, who is no stranger to covering Western pop hits, released the cover late last evening, sending her fans into an immediate summer spiral. The video features the singer – laid back and comfortable – lounging against vibrant backgrounds. She begins the track plonked in the midst of a pile of colourful clothes. Making her way from the mess and into the balcony, she delivers the cover in her signature sultry vocals.

Complete with vibrant at-home sets and Hwa Sa’s dazy lilts, this cover is one for the books.

The singer has, in the past, covered a wide range of popular Western tracks. From Rihanna’s ‘Stay’ and ‘Diamonds’ to classics like ‘Fly Me to the Moon’ and the most recent, Dua Lipa’s ‘New Rules’, Hwa Sa is known for her ability to put her unique twist to songs.

The MAMAMOO member is currently riding a massive wave of success following the release of her debut studio album ‘Maria’. Featuring hit singles like ‘Maria’ and ‘LMM’, the album has performed exceedingly well on Korean music charts and established her as a solo artist in her own right.
