Mariah Carey Opens Up Ahead Of Her Memoir Release

Mariah Carey has opened up about quite a few things, ahead of her memoir release. In a recent interview, she speaks about her identity and her feeling uncomfortable on Ellen’s show. The singer is also set to do something big for Christmas celebrations.

Mariah Carey On Bi-Racial Identity

The singer opened up about feeling like an outsider in her 1997 track, ‘Outside’. However, now she’s ready to speak about these emotions in the memoir, “The Meaning of Mariah Carey”.

During the interview, the 50-year-old singer discloses the struggle of being not ‘White enough’ but at the same time, not being ‘Black’ enough. The issue arises as she felt like a victim of racial slurs while growing up.

Mariah Carey was called “White singer who has a Black vocal style” and was also called a “White Whitney Houston.” The singer while commenting on this, said, “The truth is I will never say I had the same experience as a darker-skinned woman.”

The singer also disclosed, “Believe you me, I’m not thrilled to be this skin tone all the time. How was I supposed to fit in? I was, like, the only one that’s this weird mutant, mutt — using an antiquated phrase that I’m not asking anyone else to ever use again, but I’m embracing it — mulatto girl. I’m not even embracing it. It’s a horrible way of defining somebody. It actually means ‘mule.'”

Mariah Carey On Feeling Uncomfortable At Ellen’s Show

The singer disclosed that she wasn’t very comfortable when Ellen DeGeneres questioned her about her pregnancy. In 2008, on ‘The Ellen’s Show’, Mariah Carey was asked to take a sip of wine to prove that she wasn’t expecting.

The singer just took a small sip and Ellen declared, “You’re pregnant!” which supposedly led to her facing a miscarriage. “I was extremely uncomfortable with that moment is all I can say. And I really have had a hard time grappling with the aftermath. I wasn’t ready to tell anyone because I had had a miscarriage. I don’t want to throw anyone that’s already being thrown under any proverbial bus, but I didn’t enjoy that moment.”

Mariah Carey Is Taking Over Christmas

Apple Music announced that Mariah Carey will host a magical Christman special. The singer will perform her iconic, ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’. Well, if this was not enough, the star will be joined by a line of artists. The special programme will be available on Apple TV+ all over the world.

Well, it looks like success if just following Mariah Carey, despite a lot of trouble in her boat. We wish her the best for her memoir and also, can’t wait for her special performance, this December.
