Notorious B.I.G. Documentary Coming Soon

The documentary on Notorious B.I.G. has been in the works for some years now, with Netflix dropping hints about the movie and keeping fans eagerly waiting.

Now the wait is over! Netflix announced the release date for ‘Biggie: I Got a Story To Tell’, coming soon on March 1st.

Story Of A Legend

Netflix unveiled the first trailer on Monday, February 15th. ‘Biggie: I Got a Story to Tell’ is executive produced by the late rapper’s mother Voletta Wallace and his friend and collaborator Diddy, both contributing candid interviews to the film.

The film about East Coast rapper Christopher Wallace, aka Biggie Smalls, delves into how his music not only made him a legend, but changed people’s lives.

According to Netflix, ‘Biggie: I Got a Story To Tell’, “offers a fresh look at one of the greatest, most influential rappers of all time by those who knew him best. Made in collaboration with Biggie’s estate, ‘I Got a Story To Tell’ is a rendering of a man whose rapid ascent and tragic end has been at the center of rap lore for more than twenty years.”

“Every legend has an origin story,” the trailer’s description on YouTube reads. “Christopher Wallace, AKA The Notorious B.I.G., remains one of Hip-Hop’s icons, renowned for his distinctive flow and autobiographical lyrics. This documentary celebrates his life via rare behind-the-scenes footage and the testimonies of his closest friends and family.”

Making Of The Documentary

‘Biggie: I Got a Story to Tell’ was first announced in 2017 but only recently completed. “The running joke about documentary films is often how long they take to make. This film lived up to all those stereotypes, taking us four years to develop and make it,” director Emmett Malloy said in a statement to a famous magazine

He continued; “Through those years we were immersed in Brooklyn in the 70s through the 90s. It is easy to see how much Brooklyn has changed since Christopher Wallace was a kid, but it’s also clear that many things about being a young black man in this country have not changed.”

In November last year, The Notorious B.I.G. was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, with Diddy paying tribute to him his induction speech. Biggie, who was killed in 1997 at the age of 24, can later be heard saying in a clip from the trailer, “We’re just gonna do our thing forever. Forever and ever.”
