The AMAs Showed Up… And We’re Here For It!

A night everyone waited patiently for has finally arrived. The AMA’s hosted by the gorgeous Ciara, at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on saw all our favourite artists strut down the red carpet, set to have a fun, musical evening.

The AMA’s saw performances by Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Jonas Brothers, Selena Gomez, Camila Cabello, Lizzo, Thomas Rhett, Shania Twain and many more. Misty Copeland, Craig Hall, Camila Cabello, Halsey and Taylor Swift even shared the stage in the most iconic performance of the night and that “was even more fun than I thought it would be”, according to Swift.

Taylor Swift was presented with the ‘Artist of the Decade’ award. She performed a medley of her hits through-out the decade. She also won ‘Artist of the Year’, ‘Favourite Music Video’, ‘Favourite Female Artist – Pop/Rock’ and ‘Favourite Artist – Adult Contemporary’, setting a record for the most awarded artist in the industry, tying with Michael Jackson. The singer truly had one of the grandest nights at the award show, winning every award she was nominated for.

Billie Eilish was presented with the ‘New Artist of the Year’ and ‘Favourite Artist – Alternative Rock’ awards. Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello won the ‘Collaboration of the Year’. K-Pop sensation BTS won the ‘Tour of the year’, ‘Favourite Duo or Group – Pop/Rock’ and ‘Favourite Social Artist’ awards. Like any award show, there were a few shady on-stage moments like when Halsey shaded the Grammys in her acceptance speech, crediting the AMAs with being a fan-voted show. The jab comes after her mega hit ‘Without Me’ was left out of any Grammy nominations this year.

Carrie Underwood, Kane Brown, Bruno Mars, Cardi B, Post Malone, Khalid and Beyonce were some of the other award winners of the night. The award show ran smoothly, with no controversial hitches – from banging performances to a whole load of empowering moments, the show is definitely going to be he talk of the town for a while now.
