The Weekend’s Feeling Heartless

The Weeknd is finally out with the music video for his brand new single ‘Heartless’! After a three year break the “Starboy” hitmaker released the track last week, facing backlash for the explicit and (as some may say) offensive lyrics about his ex-flame Bella Hadid.

Fans are going ga-ga over the trippy, hallucinogenic video. Set in Las Vegas, Nevada, The Weeknd is in for a night of debauchery with fellow producer ‘Metro Boomin’. ‘Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas’ vibes take over their night as they zoom through the Strip. With Abel Tesfaye’s intoxication-induced lyrics, the duo tell a story that is both sorrowful and terribly lonely.

The video comments on materialism rather blatantly and tells a story of the pretense of happiness in a world filled only with money, and how that hinders a man’s ability to love; no, thank you!

‘Heartless’ serves as the lead single for The Weeknd’s forthcoming fourth studio album, still unnamed and without a release date. As with every Weeknd song, the song has already managed to debut at No. 32 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart with just two days of tracking.

The R&B rockstar also released the album’s second single, “Blinding Lights” on November 29. The retro track with resounding disco beats, follows a similar theme, and was used in a Mercedes Benz commercial.

The singer seems to be going through a rather tortured time in his life, but hey, what better way to fight through that than with some kickass music!
