Owen Cooper made history at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, becoming the youngest actor ever to win in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie category. The 15-year-old star earned the award for his breakout performance in Netflix's 'Adolescence,' where he portrayed Jaime, a 13-year-old accused of murder.

Taking the stage at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, Owen Cooper described the moment as surreal. He reflected on his journey from drama classes to becoming an Emmy winner, sharing that his achievement showed the power of focus, determination, and stepping outside of one's comfort zone. He thanked his parents, family, and the creative team behind 'Adolescence,' insisting that the honour also belonged to those working behind the camera.

Owen Cooper Broke The Record

Cooper's victory broke the previous record set in 1994, when Michael A. Goorjian won the same category at age 23 for 'David's Mother'. Owen Cooper had already made history with his nomination, becoming the youngest-ever supporting actor contender in the category.

Other nominees included his Adolescence co-star Ashley Walters, Bill Camp and Peter Sarsgaard for 'Presumed Innocent,' Javier Bardem for 'Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story,' and Rob Delaney for 'Dying for S*x.'

Speaking ahead of the ceremony, Cooper admitted that the recognition felt overwhelming, calling his first professional role both the most rewarding experience of his career and the best summer of his life. His co-star Walters also celebrated his own first Emmy nomination, noting how unexpected it felt to be recognised at this level.

With 13 total nominations, 'Adolescence' was among the most celebrated shows of the year, further cementing Netflix's dominance in limited series storytelling. Cooper's win not only secured his place in Emmy history but also underscored the impact of young talent in shaping the future of television.
