Fans hoping to see Henry Cavill in the world of 'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms' may need to lower their expectations.

Rumours began swirling after a Comic-Con clip resurfaced online. In the video, Peter Claffey, who plays Ser Duncan the Tall, jokes that his character is a less confident and less charismatic version of Geralt of Rivia from 'The Witcher,' a role famously played by Cavill.

Claffey's 11-year-old costar, Dexter Sol Ansell, then starts to mention Henry Cavill by name before trailing off. Claffey quickly shuts the moment down, telling him not to say that and jokingly telling reporters they did not hear anything. The exchange led some fans to believe Ansell had accidentally confirmed Cavill's involvement in season 2.

Is Henry Cavill Joining?

Now, Claffey has cleared the air. In a recent Instagram Story, he explained that Ansell's comment had nothing to do with Cavill joining the show or the wider 'Game of Thrones' universe. He even added that he wished it were true, calling the situation a complete misunderstanding.

Speculation gained traction in part because Henry Cavill has long been a popular fan choice to play Daemon Blackfyre, a key figure in Westerosi history who led the first Blackfyre rebellion. Since 'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms' takes place in the aftermath of major Targaryen conflicts, some viewers theorised that the character could appear in future episodes, possibly in flashbacks.

The rumours were further fueled by another interview clip in which Ansell appeared to hint at a major future plot point based on information author George R. R. Martin had shared with him. In that moment, Claffey visibly tried to steer the conversation away and suggested they focus on finishing season 1 before discussing anything else.

For now, there is no confirmation that Cavill will step into Westeros. The season 1 finale of 'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms' airs on 22nd February on HBO and streams on HBO Max.
