Amid swirling reports of a "harassment and bullying" complaint during the production of 'Stranger Things 5,' co-stars Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour appeared side by side on the red carpet—smiling, laughing, and hugging—at the show's long-awaited world premiere in Los Angeles on 7th November. The emotional reunion between the two, who have shared a father-daughter bond both on and off screen since the series began in 2016, became the night's biggest talking point.
A video of their cordial conversation and laughter was then posted by Netflix, which seemed to support the image of love and support that has characterized their relationship over the years, despite ongoing online rumours of conflict.

The Bond Through the Years: From 11-year-old Co-star to Season 5 Finale
Eleven, played by Millie Bobby Brown, was about eleven years old when she first appeared on 'Stranger Things,' and Jim Hopper, played by David Harbour, progressively evolved into a father figure both on and, as he once stated, off screen. "Millie and I have always had a special relationship because I knew her when she was so young. I knew her before any of this big fame hit," Harbour reflected in 2021.
Over successive seasons the actors talked publicly about that emotional dynamic, with Brown saying "we're like father and daughter…we went through so many different emotions; those scenes were so raw and real." That relationship was solidified by the time Season 5 was being filmed, which concluded in December 2024.

Harassment Allegations, Denials and Red-Carpet Optics
Ahead of the final season's filming, media reports claimed that Brown had filed a "harassment and bullying" complaint against Harbour. According to Daily Mail, the report included "pages and pages of accusations" and prompted what was described as a months-long internal investigation (which reportedly did not involve any sexual misconduct allegations). The issue was not publicly addressed by Brown or Harbour, and Netflix declined to comment for the same.

At the latest premiere, the show's founders, Ross Duffer, Matt Duffer, and executive producer Shawn Levy, responded by restating that following a decade, the cast is like a "family" and that nothing is more important than a set where everyone "feels safe and happy." They also noted that many of the media stories were "wildly inaccurate" and emphasised their commitment to professionalism on-set.
Despite the allegations, the red carpet moment seemed to speak in favour of unity. The pair entered together, stood next to one other, made lighthearted jokes (at one point, Brown seemed to pretend to use a marker to sign Harbour's bald head), and gave each other hugs. The public display was seen by many as an attempt to shift the focus from off-screen drama to the show's much-anticipated finale.

What this Means for 'Stranger Things 5' and the Future
With Season 5 set to premiere in three volumes (beginning from 26th November, 2025) and described as the show's final chapter, the timing of the allegations and the red-carpet display take on significance. Off-screen, the reported complaint generates a different kind of tension, while on-screen, Brown's Eleven and Harbour's Hopper have a deep story arc that many fans have followed for almost a decade now.
But the red carpet appearance suggests the actors and the production prefer to project cohesion and focus. Harbour told press he "doubts it will be the last time we’ll see each other or work together," while Brown said she felt "really honoured" to have had him along her journey.

Whether the internal investigation yields any publicly disclosed findings or impact remains to be seen; for now, fans and media will be watching how the final season sets up the characters' send-off—and whether any of the off-screen noise bleeds into the storytelling or marketing. Either way, the image of Brown and Harbour hugging and smiling together is now part of the narrative around this final chapter.
