On 18th October, Hollywood star Angelina Jolie made a big fashion statement as she walked the red carpet in Rome for the premiere of her most recent movie, 'Couture.' Jolie, once again, reminded her fans that her fashion choices are still as daring as her roles by fusing high fashion with personal symbolism while sporting a dramatic black, caped, backless gown that exposed her extensive back tattoos. The cast and crew of the film came together for the first significant public viewing of the director-led drama in Rome's Auditorium Parco Della Musica.

A Look That Speaks Volumes

Jolie donned a sleek, black midi-length backless gown to the premiere, which exposed her back completely and flowed elegantly across her arms and shoulders. She accessorized the outfit with minimum makeup, long, straight hair that flowed freely, black stiletto ankle boots, and sheer black stockings.

But what caught the most attention was the massive and elaborate tattoo that covered her back, which included Buddhist blessings and a magnificent Bengal tiger inked by Thai tattoo artist Ajarn Noo Kanpai in the Sak Yant school. These body arts have long been a part of Jolie's personal and spiritual identity, and on the day they became an accessory unto themselves, perfectly matching the gown's design and the dramatic lighting of the red‑carpet event.

About 'Couture' and the Moment

In the Alice Winocour-directed movie 'Couture,' Jolie plays the role of Maxine, an American filmmaker assigned to make a short film for Paris Fashion Week, only to be diagnosed with breast cancer along the way. Jolie, who disclosed that she carries the BRCA gene and decided to get preventive surgery after losing both her mother and grandmother to the illness, finds great personal meaning in the part.

Her choice of attire for the Rome premiere seemed to reflect the combination of her on-screen character's weakness and her real-life strength: a glossy façade that nonetheless gave the audience a glimpse of something deeper underneath. The red carpet moment already indicates that this is one of Jolie's most intimate and visually stunning premieres, even though there isn't an official wide release date yet.
