Bryan Adams “Tried to Help” Amy Winehouse

Bryan Adams has opened up about his connection with the late Amy Winehouse in a recent interview. The 64-year-old ‘Heaven’ singer shared insights into their friendship, expressing that he made an effort to assist her through her struggles with addiction. Winehouse, a Grammy winner, tragically passed away at the age of 27 in July 2011 due to accidental intoxicant poisoning.
Adams flew the talented singer to his Point Lookout villa on the island of Mustique in 2007. Recounting their bond, he mentioned, “I met Amy when I photographed her, and we became friends. So I invited her to spend the holidays with my family.” Adams acknowledged attempting to help her but emphasized that the initiative for change must come from within.

Reflecting on Winehouse’s untimely demise, he expressed sadness over the loss of her remarkable talent and admired her unique individuality.
Adams questioned, “But did I make a difference? I don’t know.” Before Winehouse’s holiday visit in 2007, Adams had a photo shoot with the ‘Back to Black’ musician for the Hear the World nonprofit, aiming to raise awareness for hearing impairment.

Bryan Adams revealed that their friendship blossomed after he wrote the song ‘Diana,’ believed to be about her 1981 marriage to Prince Charles. Meeting her on an aeroplane, Adams sent her a copy of the song, leading to an invitation to tea and the development of a genuine connection. He emphasized the importance of taking a gradual approach to friendship, noting, “You don’t bulldoze into someone’s life wanting to know everything in the first 10 minutes.”

Dispelling rumours of romantic involvement, Bryan Adams clarified during a 2018 episode of ‘Watch What Happens Live’ with Andy Cohen that he and Diana were “great friends.” The singer also discussed how his 1985 song ‘Diana’ played a pivotal role in sparking their friendship. Despite the song’s lyrics about her marriage to Prince Charles, Diana found it amusing and appreciated the humour.
