With the announcement of 'Bad Day,' an action-comedy on Netflix, Cameron Diaz is back and providing big laughs. She returns from a lengthy hiatus from acting as a single mother going through the hardest day of her life, and the ensemble has expanded to include more well-known actors. Production is scheduled to begin in New York and New Jersey in late September 2025, and anticipation is high for this chaotic, humorous, and heartwarming mother-daughter tale.

Who's On Board?

Cameron Diaz will star in the movie as a single mother who, in spite of everything going wrong around her, manages to keep a promise to her daughter. John Higgins, Danielle Brooks, and Ed O'Neill have also recently joined the cast. O'Neill will portray the protagonist's stern father-in-law, whose challenging demeanor exacerbates the already catastrophic day.

Plot, Production & Release Timeline

Laura Solon wrote the screenplay, Jake Szymanski will be directing it, and Beau Bauman, working for Good One Productions, is behind the productions of 'Bad Day.' The plot is similar to that of the 1993 movie 'Falling Down,' but it is rewritten such that the main character is a mother attempting to fulfill a little promise in the face of more tragic circumstances, rather than a man reaching his breaking point.

Filming will take place in New York City and Jersey City, starting on 29th September, and should conclude by 19th December. A precise release date has not yet been disclosed by Netflix. The film is anticipated to debut on Netflix in late 2026, given the filming schedule and post-production work.
